Seize the break

It’s hard to say how much winter we’re going to get, but the last two weeks were some winter.  I’m not lamenting the snow or the cold — the snow wasn’t too deep and the cold wasn’t too cold.  The usual things began happening.  The deer grouped up beneath the

Buried

There hasn’t been much in the way of fishing around here.  The first wave of snow hit on Friday evening and dumped the wet stuff, and the second wave came on Saturday evening and deposited darn near a foot of lake effect powder across Northern Michigan.  Then the temperatures plummeted

This has been a good week of fishing.  The afternoon temperatures have been above freezing, and the trout and the few anglers going after them have been pretty happy.  For the most part, it’s been the streamer thing.  December can be good.  It’s not good every day, but most afternoons

December Fishing Report

December has come and it seems that the big push of steelhead we are accustomed to in the fall simply did not. While it was a tough fall, reports from the lake indicate the population is healthy and the lack of rain is to blame for keeping the fish there.
